With such a warm sunny climate it is not surprising to find Perth being full of things to do. The clear waters of the Swan River that edges around Perth are home to water sports of all descriptions, as well as making a beautiful backdrop to the city itself. Perth is also where some of the best beaches in Australia can be found, and a trip down to the sea is a must, complete with surfboard and "barbie".

Close by Perth is Monkey Mia, where dolphins come close to the shore to see what's happening and say hello. Also nearby is the longstanding port of Fremantle, full of Australian heritage and a fascinating reminder of the past. It isn't far so public transport or car hire would be fine.

The city itself is a great place to explore, with some outstanding restaurants and bars, many in the hotels that cater for visitors. Situated in the centre of the city is Kings Park, which is a large park complete with botanic gardens, trails and wildlife and well worth taking a look at.
